Houston Father’s Day Weekend Guide

As the temperatures rise and we fall into the slower rhythm of summer, Father’s Day always seems to sneak up on us. If you are like any of us at studio 703, we tend to scramble for last-minute brunch reservations and an equally uninspired gift. Doesn’t Dad deserve better this year? Check out our Father’s Day Weekend Guide for fun events around town that Dad will actually enjoy.

KICK OFF THE WEEKEND WITH THE EAGLES AND CHRIS STAPLETON

What is better than channeling your inner rockstar? Watching Dad channel his inner rockstar. Friday night at Minute Maid Park, classic rock legends The Eagles and Chris Stapleton are sure to put on a show that Dad won’t soon forget. Beat the crowd with an early dinner and margarita at Xochi, inside the new downtown Marriot Marquise hotel, and walk to the concert. Gift dad with our RLD Black Horn Necklace, and he will fit right in with all of the other concert-goers! Tickets available through VIVIDSEATS

FIGHT THE “DAD BOD” WITH DAD’S DAY 5K

Dad’s Day 5K benefitting Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education is perfect for the active Dad looking to keep up his summer bod! This 5K run goes along the Bayou and into Downtown, putting you in perfect position to grab a post-run bite. Just hop on the metro rail to Discovery Green, and enjoy Sunday Brunch at The Grove. Indulge in mimosas that are $15 for the first glass, and just $0.01 for every glass after! Round out the morning with a post-brunch stroll around the park. Surprise Dad with one of our classic Macrame Bracelets, made out of a durable nylon, can be worn on a run, at the beach, or in the office.

GET CULTURED WITH FREE ADMISSION TO THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS HOUSTON

On Sunday, June 17th, all Fathers and Grandfathers are granted FREE admission to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Take advantage of this awesome (and extremely well air-conditioned) option and stroll through some of the current exhibits on display. Is Dad the practical type? He’ll love the minimalism and functionality in Contemporary Dutch Design. Take a selfie in James Turrell’s “The Light Inside” tunnel, and don’t miss the opulence and craftsmanship in The Arts of Islamic Lands exhibit. Wow Dad with one of a kind, rutilated quartz cuff links, that are a work of art all on their own.

WATCH THE GAME AT 8TH WONDER BREWERY

We didn’t get a home game this Father’s Day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy watching the World Series Champions with Dad. Head over to EaDo (East Downtown) to watch the Astros play the Kansas City Royals, while drinking an authentic ballpark inspired brew, aptly named Dome Feauxm at 8th Wonder Brewery. This Houston brewery features several other beers on Tap with Bayou City inspired names like the Weisstheimer Hefeweizen and the seasonal Mission Control Porter. Treat Dad to a Wonder Burger from the Eatsie Boys Food Truck, and our sterling silver Hollow Cross Necklace. He will look just like one the pros!

FEAST ON FRIED CHICKEN AT REVIVAL MARKET

Good food, good music, good times. This is what you will find at Revival Market’s Father’s Day parking lot shindig. A $35 ticket will get you a plate full of fried chicken, corn salad, mac and cheese, house made sourdough bread, and southern cobbler, all while taking in live music from The Will Van Horn Trio. Beer will be provided by Houston Brewery, Spindletap. If you peek down 7th street, you will even catch a glimpse of studio 703! Though we won’t be there on Sunday, you can still show Dad the love with our chunky silver bar bracelet – the perfect addition to any block party attire.

Celebrating dad from afar this year?? Stop by studio 703 to purchase one of our Houston made, Dad approved cards from Anvil Cards.

To all the Dad’s out there who have supported RLD throughout the years, and raised a whole new generation of jewelry lover’s – Thank you!!!
